Salice Salentino DOC by Leone De Castris

This Salice Salentino is perhaps the most iconic red wine of the Leone de Castris estate having been produced since 1954. Made from Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera in the province of Lecce. This is a Tre Bicchieri (Gambero Rosso) winner in 2017.

Tasting Notes

From the layers of prune and black cherry emerges a restrained but discernible coat of vanilla to compliment more subtle suggestions of pepper, earth and cocoa. Medium bodied and fruit forward, but possessing the typical grip of Negroamaro, this is a solid wine. Evolving nicely a few years from the vintage.
