Malvasia Nera, also known as Malvasia Nera di Brindisi, or Malvasia Nera di Lecce is an important black variety grown in Puglia and increasingly in Tuscany. It produces rich red wines with aromas of black fruit and high acidity while in Chianti it contributes perfume and aroma to the Sangiovese driven blend.
Parents: Malvasia Bianca Lunga"Earthy nose, with lush morello cherry, blackberries, sweet spice and tobacco. With time in the glass faint hints of grilled herb come through alongside dried flowers and forest floor. Fairly light on the palate with an attractive rusticity. Soft, lightly chewy tannin draped in dried red fruit and violets. Elegant and polished with a lengthy finish."
"Rich and elegant, nice concentrated fruit, some spice and floral notes. This is a top quality riserva with vibrancy, personality and charm."
