Azienda Mastrojanni is an historic estate producing exceptional Brunello di Montalcino. Here we are at 400 metres above sea level. The vineyards, just two kilometres from the mouth of the river Orcia, where the Rocca d’Orcia and Castiglione d’Orcia meet, are a complex mixture of clay, tuff and sandstone. Wines are produced exclusively from Sangiovese and matured in barrel for 36 months. Their best wine is comes from the cru vineyard of Schiena d’Asino, named after the shape of the hill. Here the vines are the oldest on the property and produce the most concentrated, complex wines. Mastrojanni also produce a Cabernet Sauvignon (with some Sangiovese) bottled under the Toscana IGP label. It's a top quality single vineyard wine made from a small parcel known as San Pio.
