Giuseppe Quintarelli is a legendary producer of Amarone della Valpolicella and undoubtedly one of the great names of Italian wine.
Giuseppe Quintarelli was 84 when he died. An artisan wine maker, he was famed for elevating Valpolicella into a considerably more respected terroir. Throughout the 60s and 70s Valpolicella was a thin, uninspiring wine tolerated for its low price above all else. Embracing centuries old methods of winemaking in the area however, Giuseppe reinvigorated Recioto and Amarone styles. Today the Quintarelli estate continues to be not only one of the stars of the Veneto, it’s also one of the great reference points for Italian wine.
