Podere le Boncie

Podere le Boncie is a highly regarded four hectare estate in the Chianti Classico area of Tuscany. Giovanni Morganti has built a reputation for producing ethereal wines from Sangiovese through low intervention viticulture. Located in the tiny hamlet of San Felice, her winery’s key wine is the single vineyard ‘Le Trame’.

🗺 Tuscany, Italy

Le Boncie was created by Giovanna Morganti in the early 1990s after she inherited three hectares of vineyard in Castelnuovo Berardenga from her father. At the time, Giovanna was working for the Agricola San Felice estate nearby. One of her main projects involved the cultivation and preservation of as many as 300 local grape varieties in order to research their potential. When Giovanna came to plant her own vines she chose Sangiovese, but also Colorino, Mammolo, Foglia Tonda, and Ciliegiolo, varieties that had stood out at San Felice.
