Khikhvi

Khikhvi is a white grape variety indigenous to Georgia where it grows in the region of Kakheti. It is well suited to the production of skin contact amber wines using the traditional qvevri. It is extremely rare. In 2014 there was only a single hectare recorded in the country.

"Textured savoury medium-bodied wine without the excessive tannins or bitterness common to the style. Dried citrus and stone fruits spanning orange peel, apricot, and peach, mingle with chamomile tea on the nose and palate. A gentle grip and pleasing sapidity give the dry, elegant finish additional length."
