Important red grape variety found in the South of Italy and planted increasingly throughout the world, notably Basilicata where it makes up Aglianico del Vulture DOC.
"Closed nose, but some notes of black cherry and balsam emerging with time. A little bit of vanilla also. Very structured in the mouth. Lots of life ahead of it. Balanced, with a nice complex finish of black cherry, liquorice and sweet spice. It’s structured yet fresh and has a lot of personality."
"Classic Aglianico del Vulture from clay soils. Dark cherry notes merge with sweet spices and touches of balsam. A moderate rustic finish delivers a punch of forest fruits."
"A sumptuously deep and brooding nose of fleshy dark fruit with balsam and thyme. Lots of intense black fruit and liquorice on the palate, a gripping backbone of acidity and firm but elegant and ripe tannins. Finishes well with distinctively typical varietal notes of black cherry and balsam."
