Important first growth property in Barsac, producing both Barsac AOC and Sauternes AOC.

Château Coutet is one of the largest properties in Barsac. It was purchased by the Baly family in 1977 from Madame Rolland-Guy, the long time owner who and resident of Château Coutet between 1922 and 1977. The estate, located in the south of the appellation, covers 35 hectares of predominantly clay and limestone soils. Sémillon is the main variety making up 75% while 23% is planted Sauvignon Blanc. A small amount of Muscadelle makes up the rest.
