Bulgaria is a large country with a wealth of winemaking potential, boasting both geological and climatic diversity.

Within these two basic regional appellations, there are smaller appellations. Few producers use them though. The notion that international consumers are scarcely aware of Bulgarian wine in general is rationale enough for producers to ignore ideas of promoting smaller localities. A few do however, [Edoardo Miroglio](/producer/edoardo-miroglio) for example indicates the Nova Zagora appellation on his still and sparkling wines. It's a shame more don't follow his lead.
