The Port Phillip zone is perhaps Victoria's most well known area, covering important wine region around the city of Melbourne and the Port Phillip coast. Its biggest claim to fame is the Yarra Valley and its 2500 hectares, just north east of Melbourne. The Mornington Peninsula has also become an important source of high quality Pinot Noir.
Mornington Peninsula is home to some excellent wines from Pinot Noir. Just over 900 hectares are planted and the area is home to a wealth of small, boutique producers.
