Cariñena DO

One of Europe's oldest protected wine regions, Cariñena DO was established in 1932 in the Aragón region of Spain. Grapes grown here experience extreme diurnal and seasonal temperature variation, and subsequently develop a unique character and balance of flavours. Historically dominated by the namesake Cariñena (Carignan) grape, Garnacha is now the appellation’s chief variety with international grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah also finding increasing success here.
