Montilla-Moriles DO

Montilla-Moriles is a Spanish Denominación de Origen for wines in Andalucia. The area has a long history of wine production dating back more than a thousand years when its production was mostly used to make the more prestigious Malaga and Jerez wines. Established in 1932 (though having to wait a further thirteen years for final regulatory approval due to the Spanish Civil War), Montilla- Moriles is synonymous with the production of sweet dessert wines from a range of permitted white grapes including Pedro Ximénez and Moscatel.
