Gamay del Trasimeno is a red grape variety found around the Trasimeno area of Umbria. Despite its name it has no connection to the French Gamay Noir, but instead is a biotype of Cannonau in Sardinia and Tai Rosso in the Veneto.
"Piercing cherry fruit, with some floral tones. Summery style, with tart red fruit on a bed of marzipan. Some complexity going on, with delicate gooseberry notes leading to strawberry and raspberry. Fresh, lively acidity. Well balanced. Attractive rosato."
"Perfumed berry on the nose, with intriguing salinity coming through; there is a definite nod toward a Mediterranean style. Black cherry is prominent, with notes of garrigue. In the mouth it boasts an elegant, pretty texture. Finishes with soft, balanced tannin and lively notes of red fruit and sweet spice."
"Delicious notes of fresh summer fruit dominates the aromas initially, but complexity quickly builds. An ethereal character emerges, pitching sweet spice fragrance, such as clove and cinnamon, with garrigue and mountain shrubbery. In the mouth there is high alcohol, but nicely balanced and far from intrusive. Deep dark fruit, lifted with subtle flavours of blood orange and stone fruit. Long, juicy finish. Intriguing wine."
